Modern Day:
  Military: Syria is one of the few countries that did not sign the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) or ratified the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC). Syria is believed to have stockpiles of mustard gas and the highly toxic nerve agent sarin.

History Synopsis:
   Sryia has been Republic under a military regime since March 1963.The Assad family has ruled Syria for the past 41 years. The country’s current president, Bashar al-Assad, inherited the reins from his late father, Hafez al-Assad, who led a bloodless party coup d’état in 1970, replacing then-president Salah Jadid.

Maps/Geography:
  Syria lies at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Lebanon and Israel on the west, Turkey on the north, Iraq on the east, and Jordan on the south.

The Society today in Syria.
  Arabic is the offical langauge for syria but they also speak; Kurdish, Armenian, Aramain, and English somewhat. The Ethnicity here is mostly Arab but some are Kurds, Armenian. Religions: Islam (Sunni) 74%;other Islamic sects 16%; Christian 10%; Jewish. I thougth that Literacy rate would be lower than it is. The literacy rate is 79.6%
